One bartender for the whole theater tonight - 30 minute wait for drinks. #poorplanners
The Grand Opera House is a real uptown place in Downtown Macon!
I loved it! Other than how close seating is. Once you are in your seat you better hope you don't need to get up unless you are sitting near nice people. Fortunately we were beside very nice people. We were directly in the center and the view was amazing. We will definitely be back.
The Nutcracker was a great show. There are very nice people that work there. My only complaint was there needs to be more restrooms. The line was out the front door, and the show was also delayed because of the line at the restroom. My overall experience was good. I hope the restroom problem can be fixed in the future. Again I loved the performance!
Kinky Boots was a knockout for the start of the Grand's Broadway season. I'm incredibly excited for the upcoming shows! I think this is what Macon has been waiting for for such a long time.
As others have said, theater and show were great, but having to pay $10 for a cheap $2 souvenir cup is rediculous. Not to mention the cup itself is really small at the bottom and middle; so when they pour their expensive drink in it you get much less than you would in a normal glass. Spent way more on the cup and 3 drinks than the ticket itself cost.

Theater itself was great. Really no bad seats in the place. Only bad thing was they force you to buy their $10 cup if you want a drink in the theater (that's $10 with NO drink in it). By the time my husband bought the cup and the drink to go in it, the drink literally cost more than his ticket to the show. Other than that little "gotcha" rip off the place is great!
A beautiful refurbishment job, but why in the world would you make the orchestra section without at least a center aisle? I stood up for people to get by more times than I sat down. A total design failure in my opinion.
Waited in line 40 minutes for concessions. 4 Grand workers stood around doing nothing while one poor worker tried to serve a line of 50 people. Unbelievably inept planning especially given the high ticket and drink prices.
Just saw the princess bride. Was amazing in the theater with the crowd saying the movie word by word. Loved it. But the bar only had one bartender ran out of a lot and we missed the first 30mins of the movie... the page said doors opened at 7:30 half an hour before the movie starts but the movie started 10mins after we got there...
Wow, wow, wow!! Amazing Grace was perhaps the very best production we have ever attended at The Grand over our 15-year season ticket membership. The voices were outstanding, the staging and props were totally effective, and the story was tense, emotional, inspiring, and redeeming! We loved everything about it. Superb effort bringing that show to us...thank you!
