Charlie’s was poorly located, underfinanced, built by duct tape and bailing wire and misunderstood by much of its own gay community. How could a gay bar survive that supported tequila over drugs, courting before sex, and even touch dancing, in these modern days of 1981? Everybody knew that those hats, Wranglers, and strange belt buckles had gone out of style for 30 years.

Really bummed. Apparently no open toe shoes are allowed?? Never an issue in the past and nothing announced or posted about it anywhere. Uber-ed across town to go there and couldn’t get in. The “new manager” isn’t allowing it according to the front door crew. The only solution was to wear the socks from a guy outside. Nope. Consider posting a dress code anywhere rather than rejecting people.
An American institution, worth the trip. Sensational! Fabulous, all that.
They have a giant steps out side, with no railing! People are dunk and I seen about 5 people fall including me. It fine for a few drinks but not a place to party!
Here is a fun nightclub specially for young people. They have people dance and everything and you can give them tips. They sell drinks and when your hungry all they have is hotdogs or something outside during the summer. If you want to take off your shirt they have cubbyholes around. They card you to get in but they don't charge an entrance fee or for parking either. They also have limited places to dit down, so when you find one grab it quickly.
The staff was amazing and the music was so great to dance to! I had a blast here ! Great place for a night out with good friends and even better to meet some great new friends
Spent 5 minutes here, after buying a drink I didn't get my card back, and the bartender was being really b*tchy about it saying he didn't have it. Never going back
Just left because a dancer decides it's ok to shove someone violently into myself and my partner. Walked away like it was nothing and didn't even apologize. The managers basically didn't act like it was that big of a deal. It ruined my night and hurt my partner. This is the second bad experience I've had here and this is a place I usually love. I'm very disappointed in the staffs response and lack of any emotion. That's unprofessional and not courteous in any way shape or form to any patron of an establishment.
I always have fun when I go to Charlie's, it's a place to have a drink, dance (if you like to dance) and meet some nice n cool people. Weekends are always fun at Charlie's so I recommend this place if you want some "relaxation" time after a week full of work.
Hands down favorite bar in Denver! I've been coming here for years and I bring all of my friends and family from out of town. The atmosphere is amazing, drinks are made well and cheap, everyone is super friendly! BUT the women's bathroom is disgusting. I will change my rating once something is done, but lately the women's bathroom has been so bad that I have taken it into consideration in not coming here some nights. Lately it has been considerably worse and I cant look past it anymore. They added more urinals for men, which is great! But something has to be done about the women's bathroom. I honestly would rather go outside because some nights it's so bad. Please please please fix it! It honestly wouldn't take a ton to make them decent.
I always have a great time no matter what day of the week my friends and I show up. Even when I fly solo, Charlie's feels comfortable. The staff are each hot in their own way. No matter what your "type", there's a bartender for you. And they're all very sweet.
