Hale and Hearty
- 185 Franklin St, Boston, MA 02110, United States
Company Description
We opened our first location more than 20 years ago in NYC, in a small storefront on 64th and Lexington, with the mission of bringing hearty, high quality comfort food to busy, hungry people. In a tiny kitchen at the back of the store, we made rich, delicious soups, while at the counter up front, we ladled them up to hundreds of New Yorkers each day.

Their appetizer happy hour is very good.

Delicious soup. Very clearly labeled foods in regards to dietary restrictions and preferences, bonus points on my book when I don't have to painstakingly read and ask if a food item is vegetarian. Friendly staff. Will definitely come back.

6.05 $ for a small soup and crackers. It tasted ok, but I can't look past the overpriced item.

This is my first Hale and Hearty experience. With large portions for the soup and salad combo, it seems that this is the most affordable, aka "bang for your buck". I had the Avacado Green Goddess and the New England Clam Chowder. The chowder comes with crackers or bread. The salad comes with bread.

I’m utterly disgusted with this place. I stopped in for my first time to try a soup even though it was busy I gave it a shot. I work in Boston and enjoy trying nice places but I will never step a foot back in here. As I was waiting in line I see an older guy(maybe manager) not sure literally pulling his employee by his shirt like a dog. I physically saw and heard the young man tell him why are you pulling me by my shirt. This isn’t how you treat employees! Such a shame and lack of respect. I felt extremely offended. I will never return to Hale and Hearty. The way you treat people employees says a lot about the type of business they are.

The soups and salads are yummy, nice wide selection of options, and staff is really nice. However PLEASE TURN YOUR MUSIC DOWN! I shouldn't have to scream my order and have to ask staff to repeat what they said multiple times. It's honestly stressful sitting here to eat. Either turn the music down or please play something more calm like jazz, lo-fi, anything but the clubby loud music you're playing now.

Amazing soup selection. I had the crab and corn chowder and it was delicious. Long lunch line, though it moves quickly.
