Review & Rating
This place is amazing. We took our nephew there for their open house, our kids had a blast. I must admit, my husband and I did as well. If our circumstances were different, I think they would have signed up a couple more yesterday. We had a lot of fun there.
Money money money. That's all that matters with the new owners. They (Donna, or whoever runs the financing department) were refusing to release my associates degree until I paid for all make-up time I owed BEFORE I even started making up time! Mind you, the time I owed has nothing whatsoever to do with the associates program. She was threatening me in her office. That incident sealed the nail in the coffin that I never wanted to see that building again. So yeah, I feel I wasted 36,000 dollars on a school that only really cared about themselves.
Its one of the best aviation school's in the nation and is very welcoming to veterens. we also have one of the biggest career fairs in the nation this is quoted by many of the employers that go to the fairs. It has its downside as well but everywhere does its part of going to school. I really enjoyed going there and would recommend it especially if your a go getter that needs or want to get into a new career field fast
Some things can't be controlled I understand this. But when the leaders of the school make decisions on the students behalf thats not right. Students opinions should be taken more into consideration or actually acknowledged for that matter. Not only was the new schedule change random but also when they change our classes from generals to airframe back to generals etc. It makes it more than hard for students to take their finals because let's face it when you dont use it you lose it. I would appreciate if the students opinions mattered because after all we are the main reason why this school exists.
Loved the hours, until they unexpectedly changed the night schedule to later in the night. The school said, "20 percent" of the students didn't agree with the schedule we have currently. School also saying "20 percent were the majority and had to accommodate for them". School did all of this with no professional survey for all students. I will change my ratings when the school keeps the current schedule. I personally will lose sleep, my academic skills will go down, and doesn't help that my three hour trip back home will be postponed until later in the night.
To be honest I have been at the school since July of 2013 and it was great when I started, now that it's been almost 2 years here I have seen the number of students drop drastically, the number of instructors & staff in the office drop like flys. Now that being said recently in the past 4 months or so I have been noticing since they sold the school to a investor relations company that slot of our hands on equipment ( such as planes, mock ups, ect..) have been sent to our Texas campus, and now the unexpected time change with no vote to see if that's what the majority wanted with no warning no nothing.... The new time for night class is 4pm-10:30pm (the old is 3:30-10) now I know that a half hour is not that big of deal to most people but to Us students we work out ass off to go through this school, pay our payments to the school, pay rent, food, gas, ect.. A lot of us have work early in the morning and by the time we get home we get about 3-4 hours of sleep some people live 1-2 hours away and in my opinion this school is becoming worse as time goes on.
MIAT is a great school and source of information if you actually apply yourself. The instructors are very knowledgable and do provide you with the information you need to know. The school could be a lot more selective on the students they let in. Half of them have so much negative stuff to say and don't apply themselves. Also there could be a lot more hands on activity and better equipment for the amount of money we are paying. Also even thought the FAA regulates time, there shouldn't be a cost to make up time. Life happens and sometimes we can't make it to school. All in all, it's a good experience if you make it one.
First starting out in the school everything seemed cool until the school started cutting back instructors and different personnel throughout the school. Recently was informed that all of the sudden without any notice the afternoon classes are now moved to 4-10:30. Although it doesn't seem like that much of change from 3:30-10 but for us students that have to drive home every night, it will take me approximately 1 hour to get home with traffic. There is a big difference with getting home at 11 verses 11:30 especially if I have to get up for work early in the morning. I know I'm not the only one that has a problem with this as other students do as well. It seems as time goes on things get worse and worse. The amount tools that were provided a few years ago don't compare to the amount of tools we get now. Some of the situations that are handled in the school now are unprofessional in my opinion. I'm only in this school to get my A&P and get out. This school is a lot different then what I originally saw when I was given a tour back in August.
