It is an awesome school with great teachers. I love going here to the Clarksville campus and the environment is wonderful. I have the best Clinical Laboratory Technology advisor/teacher ever. Mrs. Lydia Wilkinson is a wonderful person and a wonderful teacher.
What a great school and great teachers! I spent two wonderful years on campus in the dorms of NGT and I can say some of the most memorable times of my life were had there. I learned a trade that I am still using today some 16 years later!
Outstanding College! Instructors and staff that care and will go above and beyond for each and every student that wants to meet there goal. NGTC puts you on the road to success and has career developers that will help you find that dream job you've always wanted. Seniors, you may get a degree from an university but NGTC will put you to work with an degree. Not around the area, no worry, the residence hall is waiting for you admissions and application for campus residing.
I think NGTC is a very good technical college. I graduated in 1989 from practical nursing. Now I'm back pursuing my associate degree. They have awesome teachers especially Bonnie Pratt A&P.
I love north georgia tech!!! :)the best school ever!!
NGTC should recruit some "secret shopper" type students who can help you gauge what exactly teachers are doing during class time and how they are utilizing these buildings towards helping students succeed at learning. If I were one of them, my comments would be these. Are you teachers or mere task masters? Where's the passion for helping students succeed at learning??? I've not seen passion for teaching delivered by any of the teachers. Get out from behind the podium, walk around the classroom, do lots of writing and illustrating on the marker board, interact with the students, use repetition, get stuff from the short term memory to the long term memory, help students succeed at LEARNING! rather than taking them for granted! (Use learning strategies -- flashcards, word walls, games, repetition, verify that they are learning, gather feedback from assignments / tests and re-teach). I've seen a lot of reliance on textbooks, online materials, and powerpoint slideshows in a lazy sort of way. I've seen assignments with no clear behavioral objective (what will students be able to do as a result, and why is it really important?) Have any of the teachers completed any Educational Psychology and Teaching methods courses. What I've seen most is "Here's your assignment, go do it, read all this, do this stuff online, come back ready for a test, if you don't you get a zero, you're in college now so suck it up" rather than TEACHING. If teachers are not going to "TEACH," then why are they needed? Students are coming to you from a variety of backgrounds and spending a lot of money (going into debt) to be helped with their learning goals. "This is college, so suck it up and do all this, this, and this - I'm the one who is giving you your grades, so do this, this, and this." has been the prevailing attitude delivered by teachers, rather than "I can't wait to help you succeed at learning during class time." Why are students NOT excited about going to class??? The walls are virtually sterile when it comes to learning tools. Where are the word walls? Where are the fresh visual aids that teachers actually use repeatedly? Is this a school or a museum? I taught in public schools for a dozen years and abroad for five. I've completed (with honors) one program and am now doing another. I think my assessment is fair.
Worst school ever, I wasted 2 semesters here. Thankfully I am taking my education and money else wherr.
The staff is friendly and more than willing to help you with any issues. Don't rely on them to do everything for you (in response to some low rating reviews). This is college. You need to organize everything yourself and keep copies. I am still taking classes here and I would recommend this school to my friends and family. For high school graduates: I would recommend taking core classes here, of course researching what will transfer, to start your college degree. You'll be around professional staff and students that will help guide you. It'll also be affordable and worthwhile.
Great school, got my Master Cosmetology degree through them and I’m working on an Associate’s in Horticulture.
The Criminal Justice teachers here are some of the most caring, and most influential people that I had ever met here. I would definitely recommend the Criminal Justice Program to upcoming students.
