Review & Rating
This is truly an incredible experience. We entered into the aromas of a distant land. were greeted so kindly by Abraham, who later turned out to be our spiritual guide in authentic Ethiopian cuisine. He came around fanning fresh coffee roast as we awaited our vegan meal. If you are gluten free, make sure to CALL AHEAD as it takes 45min to prepare the gluten free version. Other wise the Injera is infused with 2% barley and is not gluten free. Our special vegan plate the size of an XXL pizza plate arrived ever so swiftly as Abraham showed us how to break off the injera and to dip it in the many different combos of lentils, mushrooms, cabbage and collard greens. The collard greens tho. FABULOUS. 100 stars. Amazing service, food and overall authentic experience. Highly highly recommend!!
Abraham will patiently teach you everything needed to find the perfect dish to suit your appetite. The food was fantastic! Lynn and I have never eaten eaten Ethiopian/Eritrean food before. Definitely won't be the last time. Injera is a spongy soft bread that many of the dishes revolve around. Delightful, to say the least. I have not had such an epicurean finger food feast during my entire adult life.
I wish there were more stars that I could give this incredible place 10+ stars. This wonderful restaurant is family owned and run, and they treat and serve everyone like family. The food was phenomenal and you have to come to this place to experience the exemplary service and the amazing spices and love that is in the food. I can’t describe adequately how awesome the experience was including the coffee ceremony (highly recommend it!!). We are going back again this week. Wishing that we lived closer so we could come as often as possible.
Great band Thursday night! Jazz, funk, reggae.
Amazing food. Wonderful people.
I LOVE this place. An oasis of authenticity in Orlando.
I want to go to Ethiopia!
Did I mention the food is fantastic?
Try the honey wine and house roasted coffee! A great overall experience.
Thank you!
Excellent customer service, they go above and beyond to make you feel welcomed, food is awesome, beer and honey wine are great!!! 🍺
Abraham (the host) surprised my husband and I with a dessert after we mentioned that we were celebrating our anniversary. What a nice gesture of him☺️
We'll definitely come back!!! 💜
We had a fantastic experience at Selam Ethiopian & Eritrean Cuisine. Food is delicious and staff was excellent. We took the time to get coffee and it was the best coffee we've ever had. Highly recommend!
Kind, gracious, patient, delicious, hospitable. I can't think of all the positive words that describe our experience at Selam.
Besides the amazing food we had the full Ethiopian coffee ceremony. Highly recommend it.
This was my family's first experience and mine in many years. We sat at the traditional table. It really makes the meal more intimate. My the end of the meal my teenage son wants to replace our dining room table at home.
Visit Selam when you have the chance. You'll be glad you did.
It's a LOT of food, and you definitely get your money's worth! I had more than enough left for the next day. Its located inside a shopping plaza, and when I went on a Monday night, it was pretty empty. I'd only had Ethiopian food once before, but it was a good experience.
I truly enjoyed my entire experience at Selam Ethiopian & Etritean Cuisine. They have the BEST lentil Samosas EVER !! The service was very warm and comforting. The staff made me feel like family. I will certainly be back to enjoy their live music nights on Thursdays and delicious coffee!
Guys, I can't recommend this place enough. The family that Owen's this restaurant is kind and passionate about the food they cook. They even let some of the people in our group go into the kitchen to cook the (gluten free) Ethiopian bread called Injera. The food was absolutely delicious and the coffee is roasted right in front of you and served in an Ethiopian traditional ceremony. I'm so impressed!
