Sara Hueneke Ernst is the grandniece of franchise co-founder Erma Hueneke who started The Original Pancake House with partner Les Highet in Portland, Oregon in 1953. Back then, it was known as just The Pancake House, and this is where they introduced their now-famous traditional recipes which remain largely the same to this day.

Always busy but always a table for you! The food is fresh and flavorful. The menu is packed with numerous items to try with each visit. The staff is friendly and efficient. A place to become your favorite!!
Best owner I know! Food is great font miss the famous Dutch baby! Just leave an extra 20 mins for it to cook.
Had a green chili omlet and was a bit underwhelmed. The green chili was good but no great and no choice on spicy or mild it was a mild-medium and I prefer hot. I also didn't care for the cheese used in the omlet and it wasn't well mixed so some bites were giant globs of cheese. Ordered home fries instead of which were a little undercooked and pretty bland. Spouse had biscuits and gravy and said it was good, not too heavy. Would try again but seems a little too overrated and too proud I didn't think it was as good as it was made out to be by some.
Great place to visit. 2 have a nice breakfast with family and friends. Always busy so make sure to call ahead. Or arrive early . 3
My husband and I love The Original Pancake House. We call on the phone before we leave the house now so when we get there we check-in and we only have to wait about 5 minutes in line. It takes us 15 minutes to drive there, so it does help to call in first. The food and service is outstanding!
My family and I have been to this Original Pancake House for many years. We love coming here to get some breakfast and the meals are always delicious and consistent. The service is always outstanding, however, this time around was absolutely the best. Our server, Ian, gave us his undivided attention and kept up some lively conversation. Thank you so much for the excellent service, Ian. We look forward to having breakfast at the Original Pancake House again and again!
If you love pancakes this is the place to go!!! I think they have almost every kind of pancake you can think of, plus some great other breakfast items. It is nice, clean, and very friendly!! A true gem find!!
Thoroughly impressed. Our waiter Horacio was lovely and helpful and so thoughtful to bring us a sample of all the syrups and a surprise biscuit and gravy just to try. All the food was delicious. We will be back!
