Dr. Howland grew up in Austin, attended McCallum High School and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas. He received his MD from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and completed an Internal Medicine Residency at Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas and his Fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation in La Jolla, California.

Doctor Howland has been my allergist for over twenty years. In addition to being an great doctor with extensive knowledge of the allergy situation here in Austin, (he picked fertile ground to work in!) he's a really nice guy to deal with who takes all the time needed to explain your health situation to you and the best course of treatment to give you the maximum relief available. If you're looking for an allergy specialist, I heartily endorse him.
My husband sees Dr. Howlett and really likes him. He has wonderful bedside manner. He answered all of his questions, took time to really listen to his complaints and was very personable. We really liked Dr. Howlett and we tell everyone we know!
If I could give zero stars I would. He misdiagnosed my breathing problems as "costochrondritis", couldn't answer my questions, and rushed me out the door. Will never forget this horrible experience.
It was my first visit here and Dr. Howland and his entire staff were beyond wonderful. I got an appointment on the day I called and overall I am amazed by the way they treat their patients. Dr Howland spent so much time explaining the reasons for my chronic rhinitis and various treatment options. He went over it twice and made sure I understood everything. I have never seen any other Doctor spend so much effort after every patient. Cost wise I would say after insurance I was shocked it was so low for a single consultation. 10/10 will definitely recommend.
CURED! 12 years ago I moved to Austin. 10 years ago I started with Dr Howland and was cured of my allergies. I say cured (he wouldn't) because I tested positive for something like 39 out of 40 allergins and the shots (yes, painless shots) made it so I can live like a normal person. I can mow the lawn, run, and exist without impacted sinus 75% of the year. I expect that I'll need to do another cycle but it hasn't been necessary yet. Not to mention - Dr Howland is the most infectiously upbeat doctor in Texas. You'll love him.

I was deadly allergic to wasp stings I went to the doctor Howland went through immunotherapy and now when I get stung it just hurts no negative reaction any longer
Dr. William C. Howland III, MD, is indeed a most knowledgeable physician with years of professional experience manifesting accurate evaluations and recommendations. With the concerns placed before him, Dr. Howland invested time in responding to questions and in creating a diagnostic plan for intervention. We highly recommend Dr. Howland.
Most thorough doctor I've seen pretty much ever, and I mean this in the best way possible. He covered all areas, taking as much time as needed and informing us along the way, instead of just throwing a prescription at us without any insight or background information. He provided us with lots of options, was honest about side effects and cost, and gave us alternatives, which is very appreciated when you're peasants like us. No superfluous treatments, tests, etc. , which is too common. Great doc.
I'm thankful to have found Dr. Howland to help me with my issues. Takes the time to really listen and work on a plan moving forward. His nursing and front desk staff were also exemplary.
I've been getting allergy shots here for years and have been amazed how well they keep my year-round seasonal allergies under control. It's easily a 90% improvement over how I used to be. Dr. Howland is very friendly, personable, and actually quite hilarious. I love a doctor who actually listens and also has a good sense of humor. Very grateful that this place takes my insurance and that I don't need an appointment for my shots.
