Give life! Easy way to help someone in need
I experienced very professional service. The staff worked to ensure my comfort as I donated. I will continue to make donations at this location.
Give blood! It's busy on Saturdays but pretty quick anyway.
The staff is stellar. What a difficult job they must have.
They treat every volunteer donor like a hero, take care of business, and then. There are drinks and snacks to level up your blood sugar.
Free Wi-Fi and most donation stations have a clear view of a television.
I give palettes every two weeks and the people here are nice and courteous they make you feel comfortable. If I could start every week out with my regular techs and supervisors I would be a more productive individual. Their like family the family you really want to be around.
Last time I went to the Monroe Drive Donor center because they promised a free ticket to the Fernbank Museum. I went there with 3 other members of my family, we asked for the tickets before we donated blood, the Lady from the front desk told us that we would receive our tickets after the donation. Then, AFTER the donation, the same lady said that she didn't know anything about the tickets and that we will probably receive the tickets by email 15 days after the donation. And guess what, we never received anything. So I know that you give blood to help others, and that you should't expect anything back, but what I didn't like is that they lied to us. They posted an information online to attract people to that donation center and then everything was a lie. Not nice.
I recently moved to Atlanta and have been looking for a place to donate blood that was relatively close to home and school so that I could fit it into my day. I made an appointment for 1:15 PM and arrived right on time because that was a part of the day during which I could feasibly give up an hour or so. I was kept waiting in the main area until 2:00, at which point I was finally taken into the back to have my hemoglobin checked. I was then informed that my iron level was too low to donate (not their fault but still). So, essentially, I sat for 45 minutes to be told, after a 1 minute test, that I was ineligible. I received a call from the Red Cross as I was leaving the donation center asking me if I would like to donate blood. Long story short, I will continue to donate blood but will avoid this location.
The staff are nice and competent at drawing blood. However, they don't care very much about respecting appointment times. Over several visits, they've never seen me sooner than 25 minutes after my appointment time. I've had blood drives canceled hours before an appointment time, and have seen entire drives no showed by Red Cross without any notification, wasting my time driving in. There are serious organizational problems with how they respect donor time. I've reached out to Red Cross about my concerns, but they haven't gotten in touch with me.
Update: A Red Cross rep reached out to me not long after this review and listened to my concerns. In recent visits, I've noticed an improvement to scheduling.
