Review & Rating
I found AKJ in 2013 and it has been a transformative experience. Having attended a few other school, gyms, and dojos in the metro Atlanta area beforehand I was disheartened by how many "martial arts" schools had either (1) transformed into MMA-style facilities or (2) catered directly to children. AKJ offered up a great balance of substance, technique, physical cardio and strength training for the 21+ crowd. Sensei Josh Moree's style of training embraces both amateurs who are new to Okinawan Jiu Jitsu and seasoned martial artists alike. You'll often find an amalgamation of small circle jiu jitsu, tae kwon do, judo, aikido, boxing and wrestling styles working their way into kumite (free style fighting) influenced by the dojo's diverse student base. That being said, Sensei Josh Moree has always encouraged a positive and welcoming community within his school. There is no other dojo as immersive, diverse, challenging, and welcoming as Atlanta Kyusho and JuJitsu in the southeast.

OSU!
Really great place to learn martial arts! I have been training at Atlanta Kyusho and Jujitsu for about 2.5 years, and this dojo is truly fantastic. Incredibly knowledgable instructors, overall great community. As a woman, it can be intimidating and challenging to find a good place to learn combative martial arts that isn't reeking with machismo competition, but there is none of that at AKJ. The instructors and students at AKJ are very supportive of each other and are constantly helping each other so that everyone progresses and improves.
I highly, highly recommend this place, so if you're interested in learning martial arts, come and check AKJ out!
I have the honor of being part of this dojo for the last few years now. It has been a life changing experience from day one. Josh Moree does a fantastic job teaching, motivating and challenging us in a fun and effective manner. He teaches us various arts, but ties them all back to some basic fundamentals that you can carry with you throughout your martial art experience. From the start, I have been challenged physically and mentally. This conditioning happens a little bit every day, but you will notice it when suddenly you are helping to train others in the dojo. We all come from different places, but on the mat, we all come together. Having somewhere I can go to train, spar, teach, learn and progress through such a great art form makes me glad to not only have that opportunity, but to have taken it. Come and train with us, you won't regret it!
My experience in martial arts was nonexistent before I came to AKJ, and I'm *really* glad that I started to come here when I decided that I wanted to work on my self-defense. The instructors and students foster a really welcome environment for anyone that wants to learn, and I'm always reminded how techniques can be applied in real life if I ever have to use them. 10/10 would recommend.
Great people! Great skills!
I've trained at this school for about 8 years. From the start, what attracted me was the owner and chief instructor Josh Moree's humility and desire to teach with patience. And the fact that he really knows his stuff! On the very first day, he demonstrated to me that his school was all about fast, practical and efficient self-defense. You won't be learning any "crane kicks," Karate Kid style :) You'll learn how to win a fight in 5 seconds or less. I can't begin to tell you how much real, honest confidence that gives you -- knowing that you can protect yourself and your family. As you progress in your learning, you'll get more then a new belt -- you'll develop a practical, proven skill set that one day might save your life.
The detail and quality of instruction at AKJ is beyond excellent. Expect to find an extensive depth of knowledge in various styles of martial arts housed in a positive environment with solid integrity. I have a very high level of appreciation for Sensei Josh and all the care, passion, and dedication he puts into the dojo and his students. There is genuine interest in the success of all students, while at the same time everyone is being pushed towards improving and becoming their best self. This is a dojo where everyone's progress is important, where students and instructors alike are inspiring each other and helping each other learn. The environment is friendly, the training is hard, the results are empowering.
I try to travel at least once a year from Europe to Atlanta to train with Shihan Josh Moree and his crew. I always feel very welcome in the dojo. The quality of the training is profound and I always learn something new while having a great time and many laughs. Shihan Moree treats Martial Arts the way it is supposed to be: with respect for the art and each other, an open mind for other styles and opinions, and always with a lot of fun.
tl;dr: Awesome dojo with awesome people.
I took classes at Atlanta kyusho and Jujitsu for a couple of months. The classes were fun, interactive and informative. After I moved to California somebody attacked me and what I learned in those couple of months save my life.
I've been training at this amazing dojo for several years now. Atlanta Kyusho and Jujitsu have great instructors and they are very knowledgeable. There are NO egos at this dojo and they are very, very technical. I felt welcome as soon as I started training and in my opinion, they are simply the best. After only a few classes you will be walking more confidently. The instructors are awesome and the class environment is top notch. Higher level belts often train with the new guys and help them nail the moves. Everyone is super encouraging and patient as they help you learn all of the fundamentals. I have recommended it to every friend I have and would say this is the best REAL self-defense a person can learn. If you have boys or girls going to college, make them take at least 1 yr. of classes here and they’ll be able to handle pretty much every nasty situation coming their way, starting with self-awareness and empowerment. So, in a nutshell: High integrity, high quality, and high passion! No better place to learn self-defense. You'll be challenged and your confidence will grow. This is a safe and clean family atmosphere for ladies and children! Also, I love the smaller classes for more personal attention, you are not just a number. It is more like a family than a business.
