Review & Rating
Really it is one of the best colleges I had attended. When I attended this college, I met excellent teachers who were very devoted and cared a lot to help their students towards success. I do love this college to an extend that I got more than 90 credits hours, and I refused to register to another college so that I could not leave college not until I was told that I was to be graduated. It was so hard for me to say goodbye and to move to another college. I love you Henry Ford College and God bless you all there.
Everything is last minute! The culinary program was great when I started in 2015 it's terrible now. I wouldn't recommend it to ANYONE. The majority of the staff in that department are rude and couldnt care less about the students!! When you go to them with a issue they just give you a dumb founded look and a half ass meaningless apology. LITERALLY HATE IT!
Horrible. Not enough seats for hesi exams, welcome center is no help 9/10 times. Makes me question if "cheaper classes" was worth leaving a university like Michigan state because there I never had financial aid issues, "accidental" credit acceptance and missing paper work then finding it weeks later. Such a hot mess. Counting down days until I leave this COMMINUTY college. I refuse to call it a university with actions like this.
The school is fine but the parking lot is simply dangerous to walk through. I've had several close calls with reckless drivers while walking to and from class. This has to stop. There is nothing cool about hitting people with your car.
I’m going into my 3rd semester at HFCC An have yet to have any problems with them. I transferred here from Schoolcraft because the facility at Schoolcraft we’re not helpful at all, they constantly gave you the run around an nothing ever got done on time. Since I switched to HFCC I have passed my first math class ever since i started college An I had 2 while I was at Schoolcraft. Thanks HFCC!
The Honors Program at Henry Ford College is phenomenal. The rigorous, comprehensive coursework and individualized mentorships with the college's best professors provide remarkable opportunities for motivated students to discover their passions and talents. Considering that the program inspired me to pursue a career in law, attending Henry Ford was easily one of the best decisions I've ever made.
This school is one of the biggest scams I've been a part of. The advisors and counselors are some of the biggest scammers there and have no knowledge in what they're doing. If you are planning on just getting your transfer credits from the school, they will not tell you directly how to do that. Instead, they will bait you to take classes you don't need and they will encourage you to get an Associates Degree from the college even though that's not why the majority of students ...
My stint at HFC was between 2002 and 2005, back then it was HFCC... the courses were tough and educational. I learned a lot about myself and what I wanted to do in life during those years. I would not have traded them for anything as I decided that I wanted to enrich myself further outside of an associate degree by transferring to a four-year school as I neared the finish. I would highly recommend anyone to give HFC a chance, it's a beautiful campus and, at least for me, a wonderful experience. Harvard on the Rouge.
@henryfordcc I have been a student at Henry Ford Community College for 3 semesters now. I am a veteran student and my refund has been late every single time. Their explanation is that's just how vets get paid. However, I know that is not the case and even if it was they say students receive their refund by a certain date. That date passed again without my payment coming. I have had my BAH delivered late and my pay offset. This sets me back every time. I have paid bills late. I came to the school today because my long anticipated pay finally came in and I went to the school to get my money released. I explained that I have been waiting for this for a long time and the wait already ate up the little bit of safety net I have. I explained that I am in need of this money. Very much so. They said that I will just have to wait because it will costs them money for them to do individual student. This is not my first negative interaction with this school as a veteran student. The winter semester I had a student that singled my out as being likely to be violent because of my past. When I ended up being pushed to my limits and left the class I tried to file a complaint that day. To this day nothing has been done. It is clear to me that Henry Ford Community College cares more about their bottom line then their multi-cultural and multi-background students. They recommended I get a loan from their special needs program instead of doing a simple action to save a student a lot of heartache. This school compared to Schoolcraft and Madonna is terrible.
I would have gave 5 but the "welcome center" is rude and never answers their phone, unless you wait for about 30-50 minutes-and that's if you're lucky. The women at the front desk was rude and so was the lady running the placement tests for english/reading and math. Then there was a survey after the placement test asking how everything was, so of course I gave the staff a low rating.... Which lead to me being confronted by them as I came out from the tests. Why wasn't it anonymous? Do you want to place students in an awkward confrontation with the staff? Because that's what happened. That needs to be fixed.
Do you want to wait weeks and sometimes even months on end to hear back from your counselor? Do you enjoy sending the same document numerous time to the FinAid & Registrar departments? Do you like being told two wildly different things regarding your graduation status? Do you like calling everyone and anyone that can help you, but none of them pick up, call back or even follow up? If you answered "no" to any of these questions....then find a different college. The loose record keeping and insanely long response times from College faculty are enough to make me pull my hair out, and I expect far better from an educational institution whose core "focus" is supposed to be its students. Do yourself a favor, and go somewhere else.
